Jackie is a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner, Animal Reiki Level I Certified, and avid painter. She fell in love with horses at a very young age, and found various ways to be in their presence. After years volunteering at a equine facilitated therapy barn and working as a veterinary technician, she found her way into equine bodywork.
Equine bodywork, specifically Masterson Method Equine Bodywork, allowed her to build a rich relationship with the horse. It is gentle and extremely effective at helping the horse to release tension and increase range of motion. Masterson Method is based on listening to the horse, identifying reactions, and working under the horse's bracing response. Because of the importance of reading the horse, each session is a joint effort between the horse and Jackie. It is something done with the horse, rather than to the horse.
She weaves Animal Reiki into her work, and finds that it offers benefits during the bodywork sessions. Reiki offers a way to ground herself in the present and to hold space for the horse, allowing them to feel safe enough to release tension.
Jackie finds joy in the ability to work with the horse in a way that relaxes them while releasing tension. She continues to give back to the equine therapy community that inspired her. She is passionate about her work and excited to share about the benefits of MM with anyone who peeks their head into the stall during a bodywork session. When not at the barn, she spends her time creating art for her small business The Wandering Artist JMK, LLC.
